A Patient who works in Sawston gets Free Whitening

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Today is the final stage in the treatment plan for invisalign for one of our patients at Dentastique.  The patient was thrilled with the results and when we compared the results to the original photos we were all very pleased  to see how the results were. The teeth were cleaned and polished to prepare them for the FREE whitening which we offer our patients after Invisalign Treatment. The patient will be wearing her last aligners as a reservoir for the whitening gel for few weeks and then is back for impressions for her free retainers in order to keep the teeth in position hopefully forever.  All in all this was an extremely successful case and both we and the patient were thrilled with the outcome. One aspect that helped this treatment to work really well was the patients cooperation throughout the entire treatment, and this despite the patient being miles away, the treatment started in Cambridge and the patient lived in Wales throughout the treatment and only came back few times in the begining.  the patient thought that this was the best deceision she ever made for her teeth and oral health.

A Patient drives from Newmarket for his Veneer preparation

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

We had a gentleman come in last week for the first stage in his treatment plan, for cosmetic reasons he wanted a porcelain veneer on his upper right front tooth.  Dr. Salim welcomed the patient to her surgery, to begin the preparation for a new veneer.  After the initial impressions were taken Dr. Salim was then in a position to start preparing the tooth for the brand new veneer.  The technique used by a dentist during a veneer preparation requires them to shape the tooth in a very conservative manner, making a 1-2mm space for the veneer.  Once Dr. Salim successfully did this, it was time to make a decision on the colour of the veneer.  Dr. Salim decided that in order to obtain the best results she would use the  true shade device.  Dr. Salim, the gentleman and myself mutually decided on the best colour match available.  Dr. Salim then placed a temporary veneer over the tooth, until the patient returns in two weeks for the permanent veneer. Sometimes when conditions permit we can even do these veneers in one stage , i.e. on the same day with our state of the art CEREC technology. However in this particular case the decision was made to send it to the lab.

A patient travels from Cambourne to get Free advice on a new cerec inlay

Monday, July 27th, 2009

A couple of weeks ago Dr. Abdah used the latest Zoom advanced Power technology to whiten a patient’s teeth.  The patient was so happy with the results, that she kindly recommended her husband to come along to Dentastique for a free Consultation to discuss the condition of the teeth.  During the free consultation it was obvious that the patient had a half broken tooth in the lower left side plus hairline cracks in the rest of the tooth. Dr. Abdah advised that the best treatment would be a cerec inlay.  Cerec inlays are very strong and they also require minimal preparation of the existing tooth, and they bond to the tooth.   Cerec inlays are also available in a variety of tooth coloured shades, so even aesthetically they look very pleasing. But best of all; it is done in one visit.  The patient also had an old crown at the front of his mouth in need of replacing.  The crown had a margin between the gum and the tooth, this is where the gum is receding and is showing a dark part of the tooth.  Dr. Abdah advised the gentleman that he could make him a porcelain crown that would be beautifully matched to his existing teeth.  Dr. Abdah and the patient have decided to start the treatment in a months time when the patient returns from his holiday.

Free Advice given to a patient who attends our surgery in Great Shelford

Dr. Abdah had a patient booked in this morning for a free consultation,  during the free consultation Dr. Abdah listened to the patient’s main dental problem and found that the patient had two very old crowns in the front of the mouth, one of them being chipped.  It was clear to Dr. Abdah that there would be two possible solutions for these front teeth.  Both the options required Dr. Abdah to use the skills and knowledge that he has obtained on courses around the world. The first option would be for Dr. Abdah to build up the chipped crown using  the latest bonding techniques.  The second option was to replace the old crowns with two new porcelain crowns.  These would be made using the latest technology in crown making and shade matching using the true shade device to match the colour of the new crowns to the existing teeth givinig the ultimate colour and translucency just like the patient’s owen teeth. Dr. Abdah gave these choices to the patient and the patient preferred to have the two crowns replaced since they were very old. An appoointment was made to start the treatment.

White fillings near Trumpington

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Yesterday morning was a very busy morning here at Dentastique, Dr. Besiri had lots of patients booked in for a variety of treatments.  We called in our first patient who was originally booked in for an amalgam filling.  The results of an X Ray showed that the present filling had decay under the amalgam, which meant that the filling needed to be replaced.  The patient had decided that as he did not have any other fillings he would prefer a white filling and he asked Dr. Besiri what were his options.  Dr. Besiri explained that she could take out the old amalgam and clean out all of the decay and place in a composite filling.  The benefits of a composite filling are that they bond to the tooth, unlike amalgam which stays in place by the shape of the cavity.  This meant a smaller cavity.  One of the other benefits of a Composite filling is that it is tooth coloured.  The patient decided that this was the best option for him.  Dr. Besiri showed the patient a colour chart, and they both decided on the best colour match.  Dr. Besiri did the filling for him straight away, and now the patient is amalgam free!!

Implantologist near Girton

Yesterday at Dentastique Dr. Abdah treated a patient who required four implants, two at the Lower right and two in the upper front left side of their mouth.  In the usual way Dr. Abdah made the patient feel at ease, by having a conversation with them at the beginning and asking them whether they wished to listen to music during the procedure or if they would prefer to wear the video goggles that play a film.  After trying both methods the patient decided that the best option would be to listen to the lovely hawaiian music that Dr. Abdah got from Hawaii when he was on a course there in May.  This was the first stage of the patients treatment plan.  Dr. Abdah knew that the patient had previously had various treatments on the teeth including apicoectomies (removal of a portion of the root  due to numerous infections), and therefore Dr Abdah suspected retained amalgam in the gums and around the teeth.  Once Dr. Abdah started to investigate he found so much amalgam retained in the gums that it took great skill and patience to remove.  This was of atmost importance as amalgam certainly is not healthy to the body let alone being stuck in the gums and the bone.  Once all of the amalgam  was removed Dr. Abdah removed the teeth and successfully place four implants in the mouth, and also used bone graft to enhance bone formation.  Dr. Abdah recommended that the patient should return after six months for the second stage in the implant process. Last night the patient was called by Dr Abdah to check how she felt after the treatment, and the patient reported that everythin was fine.

Straight teeth in six months

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Last week we received a phone call from a lady who wanted to get her teeth whitened and straightened in preparation for her wedding, in 8 months time.  I Briefly told her about the six months smile option and booked her in for a free consultaion with Dr. Abdah who is highly qualified in this type of treatment.  Dr. Abdah checked the patient and gave advice that according to the patient not having any crowns, veneers or fillings in the smile zone that the six months smile was an option for this lady. ?He told the lady that the six months smile was a thin white wire attached to the teeth with tooth colour attachments, making it invisable to other people.  The patient would also benefit from a free whitening kit at the end of the treatment.  The patient decided to go ahead with the treatment plan as discussed.

Tooth coloured fillings near Histon

Today a patient called our surgery as they were in a lot of pain, they had broken a tooth at the top right side of their mouth.  We booked them an emergency appointment with Dr. Besiri.  Dr. Besiri examined the patients mouth and discovered that the tooth had a large amalgam filling already in place.  The outer wall of the tooth had broken away.  Dr. Besiri explained that an amalgam filling would not be a suitable replacement as amalgam, does not bond to teeth, making it more likely to fail again.  The best option for the tooth would be a cerec inlay.  The defective tooth and decay is removed.  An optical 3D image is acquired with a small camera, directly in the mouth.  The restoration is created on the screen using the image data.  A suitable ceramic blog is milled to reproduce the design.  This accomplished during a single appointment using computer aided design/computer aided manufacture (CAD/CAM).  After polishing, the new restoration fits precisely. A unique light hardens the bonding material, uniting porcelain and tooth.  Polishing or glazing ensures a smooth natural feel.  The colour and appearance make the ceramic material blend with the tooth.  Perfectly bonded porcelain ensures an extremely long life for the teeth.  The procedure lasts between one and two hours.  The patient decided that they definitely wanted to save the tooth and is now coming in next week for the treatment.  In the meantime Dr. Besiri placed a temporary filling to stop the pain.

Cosmetic dentists near Sawston

Yesterday a young man called the surgery who was enquiring to know more about what he could do to improve his smile.  He had a brace when he was a teenager, and failed to wear the retainer.  I advised him that here at Dentastique, Dr. Abdah offers a free consultation to check and discuss the best options for this gentleman.  During the 30 minute free consultation, Dr. Abdah advised that the option of aligning the teeth would be the best solution rather than cutting healthy tooth structure away.  The treatment plan would take approximately 6 to 9 months and the teeth will go back into position, and with this a free whitening kit is included.  The patient was very happy with this option as he was offered 8 veneers as an option in the past, this being extremely expensive and existing teeth needing to be shaped. We have booked him in next week to commence his treatment!
