We are proud to say that we, since four years, have a CEREC (Cad Cam) unit
here at the practice. This is something that will make your teeth while you wait.
We are actually one of the lucky few in the entire UK to have one!

Remember the days when you had to have several appointments to prepare your
crowns, taking impressions and so on? Then you had to wait until the work came
back from a technician and this was something you sometimes had to wait weeks for.
Well, those days are finally over and with the help from our CEREC, you can now
show off your dazzling new smile after just one single visit!
And to top that up – impressions are a thing of the past!

So what is this amazing thing that makes us stand out from the crowd?

There are five simple steps to the CEREC procedure, as followed:
1 | Before You start the treatment Dr. Abdah will inform You about the benefits
of CEREC and also go through the procedure in detail.

2| After preparing the tooth, by removing the decayed tissue or the broken area of
the tooth, Dr. Abdah will create a 3D image of Your tooth with a special sort of camera,
the CEREC camera.

3| He then designs the restoration on one of the CEREC units with a range of crown selections,
and chooses the one that will go best with the rest of Your teeth.

4| The CEREC milling machine creates the restoration out of a ceramic block.

5| The restoration is bonded directly to Your tooth. This way the tooth will be restored to its
natural beauty and strength, for You to benefit from for years to come.

Simple as that! Amazing, isn’t it?

A lady who had been a patient at the surgery for many years has decided that she would like an implant in the front of her mouth, in the gap where a tooth had been extracted by a previous dentist years before. She has been wearing a denture, but now has decided that she would like a permanent solution. Dentures can be very difficult to use, and they never will replace a missing tooth, unlike implants which are strong and are aesthetically pleasing. Dr. Abdah had designated a very long appointment for this particular case as the results of her Digital OPG Xray showed that there was traces of Amalgam inside the gum which needed to be carefully removed. Before the procedure Dr. Abdah explained that until he opens the area and cleans out all of the amalgam and measures the density of the bone he will not know if it is possible to place and implant instantly. Dr. Abdah explained that if the implant is not possible today he would clean out the amalgam and graft the area with substitute bone and then cover this with a membrane. After six months the bone would be more dense and the mouth would then be ready for an implant. Dr. Abdah was definitely surprised to see so much amalgam inside the gum, The amalgam was everywhere, he explained to the patient that due to that his main concern today would definitely be to clean the area and make it ready for an implant in six months time. He explained the potential risks of having amalgam embedded in the bone. The other major reason to remove this amalgam is that it can potentially cause precancerous areas in the mouth. Dr. Abdah has a Velscope machine that checks areas under the cheeks, tongue gums and all around the mouth for any changes in the tissue. He uses this device on every patient who has a routine check up. After two and a half hours of intense work, and a lot of cleaning Dr. Abdah had finished the procedure. As he had previously explained the area should be ready in approximately six months. Dr. Abdah will see the patient for the removal of stitches in ten days. Dr. Abdah also asked Wendy to book another long appointment in six months time, to place the implants. The story will continue……

The day had arrived for the Bride to be to come along to Dentastique to have her Porcelain Veneers and Porcelain Crowns fitted. Dr. Abdah firstly welcomed the patient into his surgery, and made her feel comfortable. He then checked that the shade of the new teeth against the patients other teeth, the shade was perfect! It was now time for Dr. Abdah to gently remove the temporary teeth and place the brand new Porcelain ones in place. Dr. Abdah used the latest technique in porcelain cement that he had acquired in the USA, when he was there earlier this year sitting an exam to become an Accredited member of The American Academy of cosmetic dentistry, which he passed! The bride to be was very happy with the results and now wishes for Dr. Abdah to become her general dentist.

A few months ago, a patient attended Dr. Abdah’s clinic for an extraction of an un-savable tooth. Last week the same patient came in to have an implant placed in the lower right area of her mouth. It is usual that before the procedure begins the patient will always have some last minute thoughts and questions. The patient had remarked that this was the only space in her mouth and why was it so important for an implant to be placed? Dr. Abdah showed the patient an X Ray of her mouth showing that an opposing tooth will potentially grow until it bites against another. He then showed the patient some models of a mouth that had had various extractions in the past and once placed together, they clearly showed that there was no space for any Bridge works or Implants. For future reasons to place an implant in any space is crusial to maintain the biting space in the mouth. It is a usual occurrence for a patient to get last minute nerves as they have always had a consultation and all the information, so the decision is already made. The patient was happy with the advice and continued to have the Implant done, after the procedure the patient said to Dr. Abdah that she has last minute nerves but is relieved that she had the treatment. The next visit will be in six months time.

A Gentleman who had been a patient at Dentastique for many years, had an accident a few months ago, smashing his front tooth into many pieces. The patient decided to come along for a FREE consultation to obtain Dr. Abdah’ s professional advice. Dr Abdah examined the patient and discovered that the crown of the tooth had broken off, he then decided to take an Xray to investigate the foundation of the tooth. The results of the Xray showed that the root of the tooth had fractured in many places. Dr. Abdah advised the patient that he should go to Addenbrookes hospital where they could take a scan of the area, as the Xray also showed that there was a cyst under the root of the tooth which would firstly need removing. After going to Addenbrookes hospital the patient returned back to us for a review prior to an implant appointment being made. Another Xray was taken at the review stage showing that the Cyst was gone, and the area is now ready for an implant!

During a FREE consultation last week, a bride to be wanted a smile makeover. This is great but there was only six weeks till the wedding! Dr. Abdah examined her and took some photos of her mouth, he then displayed the photos on the screen and explained that she would need the four teeth at the front upgraded to two new crowns and two new veneers. The first part of the course would be to whiten the teeth using the Advanced Zoom laser whitening treatment. Dr. Abdah checked his book and decided that in order for her treatment plan to be finished in time for the big day he would stay late and accomodate her to whiten her teeth. Yesterday was the appointment for the teeth whitening. This procedure consists of the patient being made comfortable (as it takes 2 hours!), the shade of the existing teeth is taken, then the area inside the mouth is protected before the Whitening gel is applied. Advanced Zoom will lighten the teeth by six to eight shades. The Laser Light is then shone on the teeth. At the end of the procedure the Bride to be was really amazed! The next appointment will consist of the preparation for the Veneers and Crowns.

Today was the final visit for a patient who had been having a smile makeover, in preparation for her daughters wedding next week. A FREE consultation had revealed that this lady would firstly need the combined treatment of Enlighten and Advanced Zoom whitening. Then after a week or so Dr. Abdah would change all of the old defective and decayed white fillings in the front of her mouth to new composite ones. The patient explained how happy that she was with the treatment so far and how white and shiny her teeth are! Dr. Abdah then cleaned out all of the old fillings, and prepared the teeth for the brand new ones. During the procedure Dr. Abdah decided that in order to get the utmost best results he would use the new Composite kit that he has, alongside the polish brought from the USA. I could not believe how those fillings had bonded with the existing teeth, I could not even see where the new fillings had been placed. We showed the patient the final result, she was so happy that she kissed Dr. Abdah with Joy. We wished the patient to enjoy her daughters wedding and she happily went on her way. Until next blog…Emma (Treatment Coordinator)

Yesterday at Dentastique Dr. Abdah treated a patient who required four implants, two at the Lower right and two in the upper front left side of their mouth. In the usual way Dr. Abdah made the patient feel at ease, by having a conversation with them at the beginning and asking them whether they wished to listen to music during the procedure or if they would prefer to wear the video goggles that play a film. After trying both methods the patient decided that the best option would be to listen to the lovely hawaiian music that Dr. Abdah got from Hawaii when he was on a course there in May. This was the first stage of the patients treatment plan. Dr. Abdah knew that the patient had previously had various treatments on the teeth including apicoectomies (removal of a portion of the root due to numerous infections), and therefore Dr Abdah suspected retained amalgam in the gums and around the teeth. Once Dr. Abdah started to investigate he found so much amalgam retained in the gums that it took great skill and patience to remove. This was of atmost importance as amalgam certainly is not healthy to the body let alone being stuck in the gums and the bone. Once all of the amalgam was removed Dr. Abdah removed the teeth and successfully place four implants in the mouth, and also used bone graft to enhance bone formation. Dr. Abdah recommended that the patient should return after six months for the second stage in the implant process. Last night the patient was called by Dr Abdah to check how she felt after the treatment, and the patient reported that everythin was fine.

Last week we received a phone call from a lady who wanted to get her teeth whitened and straightened in preparation for her wedding, in 8 months time. I Briefly told her about the six months smile option and booked her in for a free consultaion with Dr. Abdah who is highly qualified in this type of treatment. Dr. Abdah checked the patient and gave advice that according to the patient not having any crowns, veneers or fillings in the smile zone that the six months smile was an option for this lady. ?He told the lady that the six months smile was a thin white wire attached to the teeth with tooth colour attachments, making it invisable to other people. The patient would also benefit from a free whitening kit at the end of the treatment. The patient decided to go ahead with the treatment plan as discussed.
