A few months ago, a patient attended Dr. Abdah’s clinic for an extraction of an un-savable tooth. Last week the same patient came in to have an implant placed in the lower right area of her mouth. It is usual that before the procedure begins the patient will always have some last minute thoughts and questions. The patient had remarked that this was the only space in her mouth and why was it so important for an implant to be placed? Dr. Abdah showed the patient an X Ray of her mouth showing that an opposing tooth will potentially grow until it bites against another. He then showed the patient some models of a mouth that had had various extractions in the past and once placed together, they clearly showed that there was no space for any Bridge works or Implants. For future reasons to place an implant in any space is crusial to maintain the biting space in the mouth. It is a usual occurrence for a patient to get last minute nerves as they have always had a consultation and all the information, so the decision is already made. The patient was happy with the advice and continued to have the Implant done, after the procedure the patient said to Dr. Abdah that she has last minute nerves but is relieved that she had the treatment. The next visit will be in six months time.

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009Dr. Abdah places an Implant in a man living in Harston
Wednesday, September 9th, 2009A Gentleman who had been a patient at Dentastique for many years, had an accident a few months ago, smashing his front tooth into many pieces. The patient decided to come along for a FREE consultation to obtain Dr. Abdah’ s professional advice. Dr Abdah examined the patient and discovered that the crown of the tooth had broken off, he then decided to take an Xray to investigate the foundation of the tooth. The results of the Xray showed that the root of the tooth had fractured in many places. Dr. Abdah advised the patient that he should go to Addenbrookes hospital where they could take a scan of the area, as the Xray also showed that there was a cyst under the root of the tooth which would firstly need removing. After going to Addenbrookes hospital the patient returned back to us for a review prior to an implant appointment being made. Another Xray was taken at the review stage showing that the Cyst was gone, and the area is now ready for an implant!
Wedding smile makeover for a patient getting married in Haverhill
Monday, August 10th, 2009During a FREE consultation last week, a bride to be wanted a smile makeover. This is great but there was only six weeks till the wedding! Dr. Abdah examined her and took some photos of her mouth, he then displayed the photos on the screen and explained that she would need the four teeth at the front upgraded to two new crowns and two new veneers. The first part of the course would be to whiten the teeth using the Advanced Zoom laser whitening treatment. Dr. Abdah checked his book and decided that in order for her treatment plan to be finished in time for the big day he would stay late and accomodate her to whiten her teeth. Yesterday was the appointment for the teeth whitening. This procedure consists of the patient being made comfortable (as it takes 2 hours!), the shade of the existing teeth is taken, then the area inside the mouth is protected before the Whitening gel is applied. Advanced Zoom will lighten the teeth by six to eight shades. The Laser Light is then shone on the teeth. At the end of the procedure the Bride to be was really amazed! The next appointment will consist of the preparation for the Veneers and Crowns.
Mother of the Bride Makeover for her daughter’s wedding in Ely
Monday, August 10th, 2009Today was the final visit for a patient who had been having a smile makeover, in preparation for her daughters wedding next week. A FREE consultation had revealed that this lady would firstly need the combined treatment of Enlighten and Advanced Zoom whitening. Then after a week or so Dr. Abdah would change all of the old defective and decayed white fillings in the front of her mouth to new composite ones. The patient explained how happy that she was with the treatment so far and how white and shiny her teeth are! Dr. Abdah then cleaned out all of the old fillings, and prepared the teeth for the brand new ones. During the procedure Dr. Abdah decided that in order to get the utmost best results he would use the new Composite kit that he has, alongside the polish brought from the USA. I could not believe how those fillings had bonded with the existing teeth, I could not even see where the new fillings had been placed. We showed the patient the final result, she was so happy that she kissed Dr. Abdah with Joy. We wished the patient to enjoy her daughters wedding and she happily went on her way. Until next blog…Emma (Treatment Coordinator)
A Student from Cambridge University would like to know more about invisalign
Wednesday, August 5th, 2009After the patient attending a FREE consultation to find out about Invisalign and once the patient has decided that they would like to make their teeth straight and that they wish to go ahead with the Invisalign treatment plan a one hour appointment is booked. Dr. Abdah welcomed the patient into his surgery, this appointment will consist of a full mouth X Ray(OPG). Then Impressions of the teeth and bite registration impression are taken. Dr. Abdah then takes various photos of the patients mouth and also photos of the patient full face and profile. These enable the highly skilled technicians in America to create a virtual treatment plan online (ClinCheck). This will show the Patient and the Dentist the Treatment plan instructions, i.e the length of time that the appliances need to be worn, before and after images, and the number of appliances that need to be made. Once Dr Abdah and the patient have checked the virtual treatment and made sure everything looks exactly the way they wanted it, they accept the case and AlignTech will start to make them and the patient will come back for the fit and instructions.
A Patient who works in Sawston gets Free Whitening
Thursday, July 30th, 2009Today is the final stage in the treatment plan for invisalign for one of our patients at Dentastique. The patient was thrilled with the results and when we compared the results to the original photos we were all very pleased to see how the results were. The teeth were cleaned and polished to prepare them for the FREE whitening which we offer our patients after Invisalign Treatment. The patient will be wearing her last aligners as a reservoir for the whitening gel for few weeks and then is back for impressions for her free retainers in order to keep the teeth in position hopefully forever. All in all this was an extremely successful case and both we and the patient were thrilled with the outcome. One aspect that helped this treatment to work really well was the patients cooperation throughout the entire treatment, and this despite the patient being miles away, the treatment started in Cambridge and the patient lived in Wales throughout the treatment and only came back few times in the begining. the patient thought that this was the best deceision she ever made for her teeth and oral health.
Free Advice given to a patient who attends our surgery in Great Shelford
Monday, July 27th, 2009Dr. Abdah had a patient booked in this morning for a free consultation, during the free consultation Dr. Abdah listened to the patient’s main dental problem and found that the patient had two very old crowns in the front of the mouth, one of them being chipped. It was clear to Dr. Abdah that there would be two possible solutions for these front teeth. Both the options required Dr. Abdah to use the skills and knowledge that he has obtained on courses around the world. The first option would be for Dr. Abdah to build up the chipped crown using the latest bonding techniques. The second option was to replace the old crowns with two new porcelain crowns. These would be made using the latest technology in crown making and shade matching using the true shade device to match the colour of the new crowns to the existing teeth givinig the ultimate colour and translucency just like the patient’s owen teeth. Dr. Abdah gave these choices to the patient and the patient preferred to have the two crowns replaced since they were very old. An appoointment was made to start the treatment.
Implantologist near Girton
Wednesday, July 15th, 2009Yesterday at Dentastique Dr. Abdah treated a patient who required four implants, two at the Lower right and two in the upper front left side of their mouth. In the usual way Dr. Abdah made the patient feel at ease, by having a conversation with them at the beginning and asking them whether they wished to listen to music during the procedure or if they would prefer to wear the video goggles that play a film. After trying both methods the patient decided that the best option would be to listen to the lovely hawaiian music that Dr. Abdah got from Hawaii when he was on a course there in May. This was the first stage of the patients treatment plan. Dr. Abdah knew that the patient had previously had various treatments on the teeth including apicoectomies (removal of a portion of the root due to numerous infections), and therefore Dr Abdah suspected retained amalgam in the gums and around the teeth. Once Dr. Abdah started to investigate he found so much amalgam retained in the gums that it took great skill and patience to remove. This was of atmost importance as amalgam certainly is not healthy to the body let alone being stuck in the gums and the bone. Once all of the amalgam was removed Dr. Abdah removed the teeth and successfully place four implants in the mouth, and also used bone graft to enhance bone formation. Dr. Abdah recommended that the patient should return after six months for the second stage in the implant process. Last night the patient was called by Dr Abdah to check how she felt after the treatment, and the patient reported that everythin was fine.
