A Patient drives from Newmarket for his Veneer preparation

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

We had a gentleman come in last week for the first stage in his treatment plan, for cosmetic reasons he wanted a porcelain veneer on his upper right front tooth.  Dr. Salim welcomed the patient to her surgery, to begin the preparation for a new veneer.  After the initial impressions were taken Dr. Salim was then in a position to start preparing the tooth for the brand new veneer.  The technique used by a dentist during a veneer preparation requires them to shape the tooth in a very conservative manner, making a 1-2mm space for the veneer.  Once Dr. Salim successfully did this, it was time to make a decision on the colour of the veneer.  Dr. Salim decided that in order to obtain the best results she would use the  true shade device.  Dr. Salim, the gentleman and myself mutually decided on the best colour match available.  Dr. Salim then placed a temporary veneer over the tooth, until the patient returns in two weeks for the permanent veneer. Sometimes when conditions permit we can even do these veneers in one stage , i.e. on the same day with our state of the art CEREC technology. However in this particular case the decision was made to send it to the lab.

Straight teeth in six months

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Last week we received a phone call from a lady who wanted to get her teeth whitened and straightened in preparation for her wedding, in 8 months time.  I Briefly told her about the six months smile option and booked her in for a free consultaion with Dr. Abdah who is highly qualified in this type of treatment.  Dr. Abdah checked the patient and gave advice that according to the patient not having any crowns, veneers or fillings in the smile zone that the six months smile was an option for this lady. ?He told the lady that the six months smile was a thin white wire attached to the teeth with tooth colour attachments, making it invisable to other people.  The patient would also benefit from a free whitening kit at the end of the treatment.  The patient decided to go ahead with the treatment plan as discussed.
